South Korean driver Michael Shin joins Hitech Pulse-Eight in the GB3 Championship for 2023
Shin will compete in the GB3 Championship with Hitech Pulse-Eight in his second year in single-seaters, having made the transition from karts to Formula 4 last season. The young racer made his single-seater debut at the start of 2022 in the F4 UAE Championship, gaining valuable experience in the Tatuus F4 machinery.
He then joined the ROKiT British F4 grid, scoring a race win in only his second outing, alongside several top-five finishes and a fastest lap, finishing 11th in the standings overall. Shin also took part in the FIA Motorsport Games in November last year, adding to his experience behind the wheel. More recently in January and February this year, Shin competed in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship, scoring a podium and several points finishes.
Commenting on the signing with Hitech Pulse-Eight, Shin added, “I’m thrilled to be joining Hitech Pulse-Eight for the 2023 GB3 Championship. Last year, they were very strong, winning both the team’s and driver’s titles. I believe that will be a great environment for me to learn and improve as the season progresses.”
GB3 provides an excellent path up the racing ladder with additional seat time, fully reverse grid races, and races at 3 different Grand Prix venues. We’ve got an exciting new year ahead of us, and I can’t wait to start testing with the team!”
Hitech’s GB3 Team Manager, Phil Blow, said: “We’re really pleased for Micheal to be joining our team. He drove exceptionally well in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship and made great progress along the way. His results in GB3 testing is testament to that and we are confident we will have a strong season together.”
