Hitech announce Reece Ushijima in 2021 BRDC British Formula 3

Hitech GP announce Reece Ushijima in the 2021 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship for a second season

California-born Ushijima debuted in BRDC British Formula 3 in 2020 with Hitech, finishing eleventh in the standings. Earlier this year, the 18-year-old continued his campaign with the Silverstone-based team in the FIA Asian F3 Championship, claiming the Runner-Up title in the Rookie Cup in an impressive showing. Ushijima will compete in BRDC British F3 in what will be his second season.

At the age of thirteen, Ushijima had his first experience of motorsport at the A-One Circuit in Fukuoka, Japan, and has since contested national and international competition in Asia, North America and Europe. He made his car-racing debut at a Formula Ford 1600 event in 2019, achieving pole, two podium finishes and a fastest lap. Securing a pair of fastest laps at the Dubai Autodrome in the Asian-based MRF Challenge debut later that year, Ushijima then stepped up to the 2020 BRDC British F3 with Hitech finishing eleventh overall. He continued to race for the Hitech team in the 2021 FIA Asian Formula 3 Championship.

The 2021 BRDC British F3 Championship is set to take place across eight rounds, one of which will see the series’ visit the iconic Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. The other seven rounds will take place in the UK across the likes of Brands Hatch, Silverstone and Oulton Park.

Reece Ushijima commented on the signing:

I’m thrilled to be back for another season of British F3 with Hitech GP. The team and I had a strong season last year where I personally learned a lot, and this year I’m ready to put all of that to practice. Super grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get the season started.”
